Words define meaning. Lets review the definition of an organization and how it is different than a company
An organization within the levelup platform could be seen as similar to a "workspace". We might even consider an organization to be a portfolio of companies. Here is a good example of how you can think about an organization.
A company like Proven does the accounting for hundreds of small businesses. Proven is therefore an organization on the Levelup platform. Proven will add their users and their clients to the platform. Proven's users will be considered organization users and will have the ability to interact with all or specific assigned companies. A company can be shared with multiple external organizations.
A Company is a single business which is created on the Levelup platform. Generally speaking a company should have a unique EIN, but in reality it may not have any employees. If a business owner has 3 different entities that they do business through, we encourage the creation of 3 separate companies in Levelup. Another way to think about a company - is whether there are multiple Accounting GLs set up or just one. If a business is using 3 different QBO instances - then there are 3 companies. If there is only 1 - then only 1 company. If you are setting up your own business and you don't have more than one business... then your organization and your company might share the exact same name.
