Signals and proactive intelligence
Surface peer-grouped, severity-ranked alerts about portfolio companies in your inbox, with calibration during onboarding and pinned tiles for high-priority items.
Signals show financial-pattern alerts about your portfolio companies in the inbox, ranked by severity, grouped by peer pattern, and pinned to the top when a portfolio-wide pattern is detected.
Overview
Signals are intelligence notifications written to your inbox alongside system notifications. You read them in the Signals inbox view, which replaces the standard split-pane drawer with a full-width list, scoped tabs, and severity-aware sorting.
inbox_pilot, proactive_pilot, or global mode). If your workspace is in inactive or shadow mode, Signals rows are hidden from the inbox and the standard notification view is used instead.Required role: Member or higher (any role with inbox access) Available on: Workspaces enrolled in the Signals v0 pilot

The detail page shows:
- The insight title and summary.
- A meta strip with confidence, delivery level, surfaced date, and scope.
- A "Why this surfaced" section listing the metrics that contributed to the composite score.
- For company-scope signals, a peer-comparison table showing your trailing-12-months value, change versus baseline, and peer range.
- For portfolio-scope signals, a grid of affected companies with current value, baseline, and change for each.
- A
Sharebutton that copies the insight URL to your clipboard. - An
Open in <area>button when the signal links to a specific page in the company workspace.
If a company-scope signal cannot show peer data because the company has no NAICS code, you see a banner with a link to update the company.
Calibration during onboarding
inbox_pilot mode, Signals is in calibration. During calibration:- Signals still write to the inbox.
- Proactive email delivery is suppressed.
- The weekly digest is suppressed.
You see two indicators that calibration is active:
- A sticky toast labeled Signals are in calibration with a
View calibrationaction that takes you to/admin/signals/calibration. - A dashed banner near the top of the inbox confirming that proactive email and the weekly digest are paused while signals still write to the inbox.
inbox_pilot mode. At that point proactive email and digest delivery resume automatically based on the new mode.Portfolio pin tiles
Portfolio-pattern signals appear as pinned tiles at the top of the list when sort is set to Recent.
Each pinned tile shows:
- A
Pinned · Portfolio Patternlabel. - The insight title, summary, confidence bar, and surfaced time.
- The number of companies affected by the pattern.
- A grid of affected companies with severity dots, NAICS labels, current value, baseline, and change.
- A supporting-metrics strip with up to three contributing metrics.
- An archive toggle that archives or unarchives the signal.
To navigate from a pinned tile:
- Click the tile header to open the full insight detail page.
- Click an affected-company card to jump to that company's signal page.
- Click the chevron on the right of the tile header to collapse or expand the body. Your collapse state is remembered for the session.

severityRank from highest to lowest, with newer signals breaking ties.Severity is rendered in three places:

- Severity dots next to each affected company in portfolio pin tiles.
- Severity badges on each company card in the affected-companies grid on the detail page.

Signals are grouped at two levels:
- Portfolio scope — a pattern detected across multiple companies in your portfolio. Portfolio signals show all affected companies, their NAICS codes, and per-company metric deltas. Individual alerts for those companies are suppressed on that pattern.
- Company scope — a pattern specific to one company. Company signals compare the company's trailing-12-months value against a peer range built from companies sharing the same NAICS code.

Signals carry a delivery level that controls promotion outside the inbox:
- Standard — written to the inbox only.
- Highlighted — promoted in the inbox toolbar with a dedicated tab.
- Proactive — promoted in the inbox and delivered to email and the weekly digest (suppressed during calibration).
Click the info icon next to the toolbar tabs to read the current delivery taxonomy.

Limitations
- Signals is feature-flagged. You see this view only if your workspace is enrolled in Signals v0. Workspaces in
inactiveorshadowmode see the standard notification view, and Signals rows are hidden from the inbox. - During calibration (
inbox_pilotmode), proactive email delivery and the weekly digest are suppressed. Signals still write to the inbox. - Peer comparison requires a NAICS code on the company. Without NAICS, company-scope signals show a nudge to update the company and the peer range is omitted.
- Portfolio pins appear above company-level rows only when sort is set to
Recent. Other sorts inline portfolio pins with company rows according to the sort key. - When a portfolio pattern covers a company, the individual company-level alert for that pattern is suppressed. Critical-severity companies are still escalated individually.
- Signals are observational, not prescriptive. Numbers come from your processed monthly financial data and do not establish root cause.
