Income Statement

View revenue, expenses, and profitability with comparison, 12-month, and common-size views.

The Income Statement page displays your company's revenues, expenses, and profitability over a selected period. It has four view modes and supports both table and chart visualizations.

View Modes

Use the mode dropdown to select how data is presented. Four modes are available:

Comparison

The default mode. Shows two periods side by side with dollar and percentage change columns:

  • Category -- the account name within the income statement hierarchy
  • Current Period -- the value for the selected date range
  • Compare Period -- the value for the comparison date range
  • Change ($) -- the dollar difference between periods
  • Change (%) -- the percentage change between periods

Positive changes appear in green and negative changes appear in red.

12-Month

Displays a rolling 12-month window with one column per month. Use the window navigator arrows to shift the 12-month window forward or backward. A date order toggle lets you display months from newest-first or oldest-first.

Granularity

When viewing the 12-Month or Common-Size (12-Month) mode, a granularity selector appears in the toolbar. Use it to control how date columns are grouped. Four options are available:

  • Monthly -- one column per month. This is the default.
  • Quarterly -- columns are grouped by calendar quarter (e.g., Q1 2025, Q2 2025).
  • Yearly -- columns are grouped by calendar year.
  • Combined -- the entire selected date range is collapsed into a single column.

To change the granularity:

  1. Switch to the 12-Month or Common-Size (12-Month) view.
  2. Locate the granularity dropdown in the toolbar (it displays the current setting, such as "Monthly").
  3. Select Monthly, Quarterly, Yearly, or Combined.

The table and chart update automatically to reflect the selected granularity. The granularity selector is not available in Comparison or Common-Size (Comparison) modes because those modes always show exactly two periods.

Common-Size (Comparison)

Shows each line item as a percentage of total revenue for two periods. Use this mode to see how the composition of expenses shifts between periods.

Common-Size (12-Month)

Combines the rolling 12-month window with common-size percentages for each month. The granularity selector described above also applies to this mode.

Standardization

Toggle between two standardization settings using the dropdown:

  • Standardized -- accounts are grouped into a normalized hierarchy (Revenue, Cost of Goods Sold, Gross Profit, Operating Expenses, Net Income). Expand levels 1 through 5 to reveal more detail.
  • No Standardized -- displays accounts as they appear in your chart of accounts without grouping. All levels are expanded by default.

Date Range Selection

The date controls change based on the active mode:

  • Comparison and Common-Size (Comparison) -- a month range picker lets you select both the primary period (from/to) and the comparison period (compare from/to). By default, the primary period is the most recent closed month and the comparison period is the month before that.
  • 12-Month and Common-Size (12-Month) -- a window navigator shows the end month of the rolling window. Use the left and right arrows to shift it. The window always covers 12 consecutive months.

Table Features

  • Expandable rows -- click the plus/minus button on any parent row to expand or collapse its children.
  • Expand level selector -- select a depth level (Level 1 through Level 5) to expand all rows to that depth. Available in standardized mode only.
  • Search -- click the search icon to filter accounts by name. The search preserves parent rows so you can see the full hierarchy path to matching accounts.
  • Cell highlighting -- hover over any cell to see cross-axis highlighting.
  • Detail modal -- click the expand icon on any row to open a detail view for that line item. Not available in common-size modes.
  • Density toggle -- switch between compact and comfortable row spacing.

Chart View

Click the chart/table toggle to switch from the data table to a visual chart. The chart displays the same data as the active table mode using bar and line series. Click the toggle again to return to the table view.

Resync Button

If your accounting integration supports manual resync, a button appears in the page header. Click it to trigger a fresh data pull from your accounting provider.
